Content Policy
Draft for legal review. This text is not final and may change before it takes effect. Details in [brackets] are filled in when the business is registered.
Version 0.1. Last revised: [date].
This policy says what may be posted, listed and uploaded on Mosana, how to report something that breaks it, and what we do about reports. It applies to profiles, posts, comments, product listings, books, courses, videos and anything else shared on the site.
1. What is not allowed
- Illegal or dangerous things: anything that is illegal to sell or share in Kenya, including weapons, drugs, stolen goods, and anything that puts people in danger.
- Scams and fakes: listings that take payment and do not deliver, fake products, fake reviews, and anything built to mislead buyers.
- Counterfeits: copies of branded goods sold as the real thing.
- Copyright and ownership: books, courses, videos, music, pictures or text that the seller does not own or have the right to sell. By publishing, the seller confirms they own it or have permission.
- Adult or violent content: sexual content, graphic violence, and anything that exploits or endangers children. Content for children must be suitable for children.
- Hate and harassment: threats, abuse, and content that attacks people for who they are, or incites violence or hatred.
- Personal information: other people’s phone numbers, addresses, ID details or private messages, shared without their consent.
- Spam: repeated, misleading or unwanted promotion, and attempts to get around the rules.
2. How we look at content
Every profile is checked by us before it goes live. After that, posts, comments and listings appear straight away and are reviewed when someone reports them or when we notice a problem. Videos and books that we attach to a listing are checked before they are published.
3. Reporting something
Use Report on any post, product or page. You do not need an account. Tell us what is wrong and, if you can, why. To report copyright, or if you cannot use the button, email [email for copyright and abuse reports] with a link to the content, what rights you hold, and how to reach you.
We aim to look at reports of illegal or dangerous content within 24 hours and every other report within 72 hours. We may ask you or the seller for more information.
4. What we do
Depending on what we find, we may remove the content, warn the seller, take a profile or product off sale for a time, or close a profile. Serious or repeated breaches, and anything we believe is illegal, can lead to a profile being closed straight away, and we may pass it to the authorities where the law requires or allows it. We keep a record of what we decided and why.
We do not hold sellers’ money, so removing content does not by itself stop a payment that has already been made; refunds are handled under the Refund and Dispute Policy.
5. Appeals
If we removed something of yours and you think we got it wrong, email [general contact email] within 14 days with the link and your reasons. We aim to reply by the next working day.
6. Changes
We may update this policy as the site grows. The date at the top shows the latest version.
